Empty

Round and round an empty room
Lamplight shudders in the dark
Flowers birthed without a bloom
Fire shines without a spark

Pacing up and down the floor
Find no answers in the space
Forgetting what you came here for
Or the nature of this place

Life stripped bare is just the fall
Of one foot then another here
This is it and this is all
Shadows, questions, nothing clear

Round and round this empty hall
Back to where you first began
This is it and this is all
Pointless as the race you ran

  1. Almost like it would be better to stay in bed. Nice job, Helen.
